Connor Bedard is a firebrand, and of course the Sports Drink company know that, which is why they have sponsored the superstar forward.
In doing-so, this move, is a sort of F*** you, to Bettman and the NHL who was dropped by the Sports Drink Company, leaving the league in the red.
The NHL lost a reliable partner in the brand, and had to find a replacement for the sponsor.
Of course, this wasn’t an easy task, this let to a failed sponsorship with BioSteel and then finally, Body Armor.
Of all the sports drink partners, I’m sure Bettman is hopefully this is a stable and reliable partner from here on out, after losing the legacy brand of Gatorade.
Bedard has defied conventional wisdom, unlike Connor McDavid as he has eschewed the Body Armor brand.
Instead he has signed with Gatorade, as the face of the NHL, signing a sponsorship with the sports drink:
“Connor Bedard appears to be in the running for the next face of the NHL, but now the NHL world is wondering what Commissioner Bettman thinks.
The feeling is that he’s not happy that one of his biggest stars is signing with a competitor and a company that has abandoned him.
When situations like this happen, it can create a lot of tension. The NHL will then try to limit the damage in order to maintain a relationship of trust with its new partner.”
He will join his idol, as another NHL athlete sponsored by the sports drink. This is yet another sponsorship Bedard has added to his name, and for sure won’t pass up unique opportunities like this.
