The CFL also shared the moment on X (formerly Twitter) with the post,

“Hockey sensations in the house! 🏒 Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid from the @EdmontonOilers are taking in today’s CFL action!”

This outing came soon after significant events in the players’ personal lives. On July 11, 2024, Draisaitl and Celeste announced their engagement. Draisaitl shared three pictures on Instagram with the caption, “Forever.”

Meanwhile, McDavid and Kyle got married on July 27, 2024.

The double date at the Elks game was a chance for the couples to enjoy a relaxed evening away from the hockey spotlight.

Connor McDavid praises Edmonton’s convenience and lifestyle for hockey players

Connor McDavid discussed life in Edmonton on Sept. 11, 2024, acknowledging the city’s mixed reputation.

Speaking after practice, he admitted that Edmonton isn’t like Los Angeles or Miami in terms of weather. However, he pointed out the city’s convenience, mentioning its short commutes and low traffic. McDavid also joked about the construction but shared the overall ease of living in Edmonton.

“It’s not the beach, and it’s not beautiful weather all the time, but we’re here to play hockey, and we’re here to be a part of something, and I think guys want to do that, I think for people that haven’t experienced Edmonton; it’s really easy living,” McDavid said.

“There’s no hour’s drive, there’s no traffic – although the construction could be better (laughs) – but it’s really convenient living. It’s easy living; stress-free living. It checks a lot of boxes for a lot of guys,” he added.

After marrying Lauren Kyle in July, McDavid felt at home in the city he lives in most of the year.

He mentioned that despite the weather, Edmonton provides a good lifestyle for players focused on hockey. McDavid seemed happy with the city where he spends most of his time as the Oilers prepare for the new season.
