Recently, the Nuggets made moves to clear space and streamline their roster by trading backup point guard Reggie Jackson to the Charlotte Hornets. This strategic maneuver sets the stage for Westbrook’s potential acquisition, especially since his contract for the upcoming season amounts to just over $4 million.
Earlier reports had indicated that Westbrook was considering parting ways with the Clippers. Still, he ultimately decided to exercise his player option and remain with the team before trade rumors began circulating. Now, with trade talks intensifying, Westbrook’s future in Los Angeles appears uncertain.
According to Shams Charania, the Clippers are actively working to trade the nine-time All-Star. He also added that the LA team is exploring various options in the trade market to facilitate his departure.
Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes also reported that the Clippers are actively exploring trade opportunities involving Westbrook during this offseason.
Russell Westbrook’s Clippers’ Last Season Stats
The Los Angeles Clippers acquired Russell Westbrook from the Los Angeles Lakers at the trade deadline during the 2022–23 NBA season. Westbrook had a productive regular season with the Clippers, appearing in 68 games, although he started in only 11 games. Throughout the season, he averaged 11.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game.
While Westbrook’s role may have shifted from being an MVP contender every season, he remains a valuable contributor to any competitive team. His shooting efficiency last season proved it. The Clippers star recorded a field goal percentage of 45.4% and a three-point percentage of 27.3%.
In the 2024 NBA Playoffs, Westbrook averaged 6.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game across six games. Although his numbers were modest in the postseason, Westbrook’s experience and leadership were assets for the Clippers during their playoff run.
