Prince Harry has become estranged from the royal family since he quit in 2020, but it’s not just his relationship with his relatives that have been impacted, according to reports
Prince Harry has experienced strained relationships with some family members since his departure from the royal family in 2020. In addition to moving to America, where he now lives in a Montecito mansion with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Harry also took steps that were not typically royal.
These included a shocking interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, where the couple accused the Firm of racism, followed by their 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan. The Duke, aged 40, further escalated things with the release of his memoir Spare in 2023, which is thought to be the reason he is no longer on speaking terms with his older brother Prince William, 42.
However, while the Duke and Duchess criticized the family or at least life as a senior royal on all three occasions in some way, it seems there were some comments Harry made privately that led to the end of one of his close friendships, according to the Daily Mail’s Royal editor Rebecca English. She wrote: “I was told of one former confidant, who for many years couldn’t have been closer to Harry, who was so disgusted by his behavior – and, in particular, by some of the things he apparently said privately about his family – that they vowed never to talk to him again. And they haven’t.”
Despite being away from the UK for nearly half a decade, Prince Harry still maintains some close ties within the royal family—especially with his father, King Charles. Following the King’s cancer diagnosis, the Duke of Sussex made an urgent trip to Britain to be by his side, reports the Express.

The visit was brief and they reportedly haven’t met since, but communication lines remain open. In fact, King Charles called Harry in September to extend happy birthday wishes for Harry’s landmark 40th.
Reflecting on this, Harry shared with Good Morning America, “I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could.”
He added, “Look, I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that.”
During Prince Harry’s recent appearance at the WellChild Awards in the UK this September, there was no interaction with the King, who reportedly was in Scotland at the time prepping for a Royal tour down under to Australia and Samoa.
